Shepherd Wheel

A small water-powered grinding workshop on the Porter Brook in Whiteley Woods, in use from at least the sixteenth century until the 1930s. Its wheel and grinding troughs were restored and reopened in 2012, and it is run by volunteers on open days. A rare survivor of the hundreds of such wheels that once lined Sheffield's rivers.
