Bassett’s

The sweet maker founded by George Bassett in Sheffield in 1842, famous for Liquorice Allsorts, said to have been invented in 1899 when a salesman dropped his tray of samples, and Jelly Babies. The Owlerton factory, now owned by Mondelez under the Maynards Bassetts name, still makes them in the city.
