The Index of Multiple Deprivation, the government's official measure of relative deprivation for every LSOA in England, combining income, employment, health, education, crime, housing and living environment. The 2019 edition is the current one at the time of writing. Results are usually shown as a decile: decile 1 is the most deprived tenth of areas nationally, decile 10 the least. Sheffield has neighbourhoods at both extremes, often side by side.
