Sheffield keeps the old second person singular pronoun: tha or thee for "you" and thi or thy for "your". "Tha knows" means you know, and "Sithee" means see you. It is friendly and informal, used between people who know each other. Sheffield's use of these forms earned locals the nickname dee-dahs from neighbouring towns, who heard "thee" and "tha" as dee and dah.
