Looking for something different – and free – to do in Sheffield? Parkour might be it. And Sheffield is lucky enough to have one of the UK’s longest-running parkour communities right on its doorstep.
Sheffield Parkour & Freerunning (SPKF) has been training on the city’s steps, walls and rails since 2005. Two decades on, it’s still doing exactly what it set out to do: keep parkour in Sheffield open, friendly, non-competitive and free. Over the years the community has introduced thousands of people across Sheffield, Rotherham and South Yorkshire to the discipline – from complete beginners to seasoned athletes – and its traceurs have demonstrated at Sheffield’s Cliffhanger festival, featured on BBC Look North, and hosted jams that drew movers from across the north. You can read the full story in 20 Years of Parkour in Sheffield.
Today, alongside partners Northern Parkour, the community runs free open sessions several times a week – mostly at Endcliffe Park’s purpose-built parkour park. There’s no fee, no booking and no experience needed; you just turn up. It’s welcoming to all ages and abilities, and one of the most rewarding ways to get active in the city.
Find the full session times and locations on the SPKF sessions page, or say hello first on their community Discord. Details of the recurring free sessions are listed below.
