Local places, practical tips and useful links to help you make a plan.
Meet Sheffield’s arts and making community through exhibitions, workshops and the work people are creating. Use this hub to discover a technique or find a public event, then share a project with people in the Arts and Makers community. Beginners, occasional visitors and practising artists can all bring a useful perspective.
Find where Sheffield makes and shows work
Yorkshire Artspace operates Persistence Works on Brown Street and Exchange Place near the city centre. Its published facilities include exhibition spaces and specialist making provision; Carousel Print Studio at Exchange Place offers printmaking workshops. Start with the current public programme when planning a visit. Working studios, exhibitions and taught sessions have different arrangements, so a studio address should not be treated as an invitation to drop into an artist’s workspace.

Choose a workshop you can enjoy
Read what the booking includes, particularly tools, materials, firing or later collection of finished work. Ask whether a session starts from scratch or expects previous experience. When sharing your own work, credit collaborators and explain the process or technique you would like feedback on. If an exhibition or open studio inspired you, link to its current information and respect the artist’s photography policy. The Free hub can help with exhibition visits, while Parents is useful for activities with children.
