Bonfire Night in Sheffield 2026: fireworks displays and bonfires

Last updated: 20 September 2026.

Bonfire Night is Thursday 5 November 2026, and Sheffield’s main confirmed display is a new event at Don Valley Bowl. Arcnight combines an earlier low-bang show with a larger fireworks and laser finale, plus live music, children’s activities, food, bars and fairground rides.

This is a guide to what is confirmed now and what to check before buying. More community displays may be announced nearer November; they will be added when organisers publish enough information to plan around safely.

Bonfire Night 2026 at a glance

  • Date: Thursday 5 November 2026.
  • Main confirmed event: Arcnight at Don Valley Bowl, advertised from 4pm to 9pm.
  • Displays: an early low-bang show followed by a larger finale with a laser show.
  • Also there: live bands and DJs, children’s activities, street food, licensed bars, fire and light performers, walkabout entertainment and funfair rides.
  • Tickets: check the official Arcnight site for current prices and availability.

Arcnight at Don Valley Bowl

Arcnight comes from the production team behind Illuminate the Gardens. Its two-display format gives families with younger children an earlier option, while the later show is designed as the bigger finale. “Low bang” does not mean silent, and the wider event will still contain music, crowds, bright light and fairground sound, so plan with the whole environment in mind.

The organiser says pushchairs are allowed but may be searched, large bags will slow entry, and visitors cannot bring their own fireworks, sparklers or sky lanterns. Chairs and blankets are not permitted. Some traders will accept cards, but the organiser recommends bringing some cash because there is no cash machine inside the site.

Travel and the journey home

Don Valley Bowl is beside the Arena and Valley Centertainment area. The organiser says parking will be available at Utilita Arena Sheffield on a first-come, first-served basis, but a large display can put pressure on roads before and after the finale. Check public transport and road information on the day rather than assuming an ordinary Thursday timetable will feel ordinary.

Choose your route home before entering, especially if you are meeting people from different parts of Sheffield. Save the ticket and travel details to your phone, but do not make one low battery responsible for the whole group. The Sheffield Events map can help put the Bowl, tram stops and surrounding area in context.

Accessibility, weather and comfort

The path around Don Valley Bowl is level hardstanding, while the interior is grass. The organiser recommends that wheelchair users consider bringing a companion and says eligible visitors can request a complimentary carer ticket after buying their own ticket and supplying evidence. Assistance dogs are permitted; other animals are not.

November ground can be wet even when it is not raining at the gate. Wear shoes that cope with grass, add a warm layer you can carry, and read any weather update sent to ticket holders. The organiser says unsafe high winds or heavy rain may lead to cancellation and refunds, so check the official channel before travelling.

Quieter options and looking after pets

If the early low-bang display is still likely to be too intense, watching from a distance or choosing a firework-free evening is a valid plan. Do not promise a child or sensory-sensitive guest that any public fireworks event will be quiet. Honest expectations, hearing protection where appropriate and an exit plan are more useful than forcing the night to work.

At home, prepare for noise before dusk: keep pets indoors where appropriate, close curtains, make a familiar sheltered space available and avoid leaving a frightened animal alone if you can. Follow advice from your vet for an animal with a known severe reaction. Fireworks may also be used on nearby evenings, not only on 5 November.

Firework safety and new announcements

Organised displays are the simplest way to put distance, trained operators and crowd management between spectators and fireworks. Sheffield City Council’s firework and bonfire guidance says members of the public should not bring their own fireworks, including sparklers, into organised displays. It also notes that fireworks generally cannot be set off between 11pm and 7am, with the Bonfire Night exception extending to midnight.

We will add properly confirmed local displays rather than copying rumours or last year’s times. Check the November guide and live events calendar for additions. Organisers can submit a display through the free event form.
