Sheffield has been making things, and arguing about things, for a very long time. This is the part of the site that looks backwards: who was born here, what was photographed here, what was written about here and what is still standing.

None of it is written by us. It is pulled from the places that already keep this record properly: Wikidata and Wikipedia, the Internet Archive, Open Library, the V&A, the Portable Antiquities Scheme, Historic England, Open Plaques and the National Library of Scotland's scanned Ordnance Survey sheets. We just put it in one place and say where every line came from.
