Sheffield compared with Great Britain
Yorkshire is 7.27p per kWh versus the GB average of 7.33p, with a 29.12p daily standing charge versus 29.04p. At Ofgem's typical 11,500 kWh usage, that works out at about £942 a year here, about £7 lower than the GB benchmark.
From 1 October, the Yorkshire benchmark becomes 7.90p per kWh and 29.77p a day. At typical use, that is about £75 a year more for this fuel.

Before choosing a tariff
Fixed or variable?
Variable tariff
Rates can move when the price cap changes. The cap limits unit rates and standing charges, not your total bill: using more still costs more.
Fixed tariff
Unit rates are fixed for an agreed term. Compare both rates, the standing charge, contract length and any exit fee rather than the headline saving alone.
Check whether a quoted saving uses your real annual consumption and current tariff. A comparison result is only as useful as those starting figures.
Am I being overcharged?
The calculator is a regional benchmark, not a verdict on your bill. Check these details on the bill before comparing it:
- The unit rate on your bill, in pence per kWh, against the cap figure above.
- The standing charge, in pence a day. It is charged whether you use anything or not.
- How you pay. Direct debit, on receipt of bill and prepayment are capped at different rates.
- Whether you are on a standard variable tariff. If you have never switched or your fix ran out, you are.
- When any fixed deal ends, and what it rolls onto.
- Whether your meter reads in cubic metres or hundreds of cubic feet. The conversion to kWh is on the bill.
The gas network here
Northern Gas Networks is the distributor for Yorkshire: the pipes, not the supplier on your bill. Whether they publish a live incident feed this site could use has not been verified, so nothing here promises one.

The useful number here would be your home's EPC band and how it compares with the rest of your area. That register needs a free registered key on its new host, which this site does not hold, so the band context is missing rather than guessed.
Why this page is thinner than the electricity one
Gas is a commodity with one price path and no half-hourly market for households, so there is no gas equivalent of the Agile panel and no regional carbon forecast for it. This page is deliberately thin rather than padded out with figures that would not mean anything.
