A Sheffield newspaper story from October 1933 described two people seeing a naked man run past them in heavy rain towards Burngreave Cemetery. Police were called but reportedly found neither the man nor footprints in the cemetery mud.
The absence of a find encouraged a ghost rumour, although it could not establish what the witnesses had seen. We retain it as a reported historical incident rather than turning the rumour into a factual claim.
