About this map

The council data shown here includes 419 named parks and green spaces, 2,511 sections of public rights of way, 429 cycle route sections and 2,361 grit bins.

Boundaries are simplified and some small sites are omitted. A mapped green space does not necessarily have public access. Check signs and conditions when visiting.

The ground beneath Sheffield

Bedrock looked up at the centre of 147 neighbourhoods on the BGS 1:625 000 map: 135 on the Coal Measures (mudstone, siltstone, sandstone, coal, ironstone and ferricrete, Carboniferous); 12 on the Millstone Grit (the gritstone of the western moors and edges, Carboniferous).
