Crafting Parallel Worlds: World Building Workshop

Gut Level

A collaborative world-building workshop starting from the question “What if the city centre wasn’t just for shopping?”

Join Craft Social and The Bare Project for the first in a series of free workshops which combine speculative fiction and textile crafts. These workshops are based on Nottingham School of Art & Design’s project Fashion Fictions. Crafting Parallel Worlds will bring people together to create and reflect on shared visions for alternative fashion cultures.

Join us to create a parallel, improved Sheffield, and use craft activities to pull items from our fictional Sheffield into the real world.

This will be a series of 3 workshops. You do not need to attend all sessions; you’re welcome to join the series at any point.

Workshop 1

A collaborative world-building workshop starting from the question “What if the city centre wasn’t just for shopping?” and exploring visions of softer, safer city spaces. We’ll imagine a parallel town centre together using speculative fiction techniques including creative mapping, writing and collaging. This will be a guided session with lots of different ways to contribute.

This workshop is part of Common Threads, an international weaving project bringing cultures, ideas and people together.

This workshop is free, but booking is required
