Carbrook Hall is a genuine historic building with Civil War associations. Its best-known ghost tradition identifies a broad male figure on the staircase as Colonel John Bright, a Parliamentarian officer connected with the house.
Former staff and visitors also repeated stories of children’s voices, footsteps and objects moving in the building. Picture Sheffield describes the property as reputedly haunted, while the former pub’s own history page collected several of its traditions. These are venue traditions rather than independently verified events.
The surviving hall is now in commercial use. Do not treat opening hours as permission to investigate private parts of the building.
