808 State are an English electronic music group formed in 1987 in Manchester by Graham Massey, Martin Price and Gerald Simpson. Taking their name from the Roland TR-808 drum machine and the "state of mind" the members shared, they released their debut album Newbuild in September 1988. They secured commercial success in 1989, when their song "Pacific State" was picked up by BBC Radio 1 DJ Gary Davies and charted for 11 weeks in the UK.

Where 808 State fits
Counted from the 1 Sheffield date we have listed for them. Our archive is a few years deep, so this is what we hold rather than everything they have ever done.
Next in this circle
Nothing coming up for this act or anybody they have shared a bill with. That usually means nobody has listed it yet rather than that nothing is happening.
Shared a bill with
Every date we hold for 808 State is a listing with no other act named on it. That is very often a gap in the listing rather than a solo career, so it is not a claim about how they work.
Rooms that book this circle
Counted from who actually played where, not from what kind of music anybody thinks these rooms put on. The two numbers are kept apart: nights for 808 State, and nights for the acts they share bills with.
