Ghost walks and paranormal events in Sheffield

The ghost walks running in Sheffield this autumn are Strange Sheffield Ghost Tours, led by storyteller Adrian Finney of Strange Britain, who is celebrating five years of tours this Halloween. The two regular city-centre routes start at Leah’s Yard on Cambridge Street at 7:30pm on alternate Fridays (£12.50 in advance). For Halloween there are seven city-centre specials between 24 and 31 October (£14 in advance), including three walks on Halloween night itself, and an anniversary return to Bunting Nook in Norton on Thursday 29 October, the road where Adrian led his very first tour. The list below updates itself as dates are added or pass, and the map shows where each walk starts alongside the researched ghost stories nearby.

Halloween 2026: five years of Strange Sheffield

Adrian led his first ghost tour on 29 October 2021, and to mark five years he is dusting off some old favourites alongside a couple of brand new stories, all told live on the streets where they are said to have happened. The city-centre Halloween specials start in the courtyard at Leah’s Yard and finish near Sheffield Cathedral. Advance tickets are £14 for adults and £10 for under-14s, or £15 and £10 on the night.

The one to book early is the Bunting Nook fifth anniversary special at 8pm on Thursday 29 October, five years to the week since the first tour. It walks one of England’s most haunted roads, through parts of Graves Park and on into Norton: ghostly aircraft, a trickster spirit and a giant black dog with eyes of flame. It starts on the public footpath beside St James Church, Norton (S8 8JQ), runs for under a mile, is accessible with a few steeper sections, and costs £14 for adults or £9 for under-14s in advance.

Strange Sheffield ghost walks: what to expect

Adrian Finney is an author and storyteller, and his walks are pitched as part spooky and part funny rather than an evening of jump scares. You follow the back streets, yards and alleys of the city centre while he tells the stories attached to them, from the tales that turn up in old newspapers to the ones that have been passed round Sheffield for generations. Both routes start at Leah’s Yard, the restored little-mesters’ yard on Cambridge Street, so you can grab a drink nearby before you set off.

The two routes tell different stories, which means you can do one in October and come back for the other before Christmas. Route One runs on 2 and 16 October, 6 and 20 November and 4 December. Route Two runs on 9 and 23 October, 13 and 27 November and 11 December. Every walk starts at 7:30pm.

• Length: about three quarters of a mile, roughly 90 minutes.
• Access: the organiser describes the route as fully accessible.
• Price: £12.50 for adults in advance, £7.50 (Route One) or £8 (Route Two) for under-14s, plus any booking fee. On the night it is £13 for adults and £8 for children, and contactless payment is accepted.
• Age: best for 14 and up, so check with the organiser before bringing younger children.

• Book ahead where you can: the walks are cheaper in advance and numbers can be limited.
