Halloween in Sheffield 2026: events, club nights and family fun

Last updated: 20 September 2026.

Halloween falls on a Saturday in 2026, but Sheffield’s programme stretches from 20 October into the first day of November. There are free city-centre activities and family trails before the final weekend, then concerts, theatre, drag, live music and club nights on 30 and 31 October.

The useful approach is to choose the kind of night you actually want. A family afternoon, a dressed-up gig and a 4am club crawl are three different plans; trying to turn them into one is how an exciting weekend becomes an expensive queue.

Halloween 2026 at a glance

  • Halloween: Saturday 31 October 2026.
  • Wider programme: confirmed events currently run from Tuesday 20 October to Sunday 1 November.
  • Free starting point: Out of this World takes over outdoor city-centre locations on Sunday 25 October.
  • Busiest nights: Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October.
  • Keep checking: times, age limits and ticket availability can change, so open the individual listing before setting off.

Every Halloween event we’ve listed

This list keeps itself up to date: it shows every Halloween event on Sheffield Events from today until 1 November, and new ones appear as organisers announce them. The map shows where they are, with researched ghost stories nearby in purple. For walks rather than parties, see our Sheffield ghost walks guide.

Family Halloween events

Out of this World is the easiest free family starting point: science fiction, comics, gaming, magic and Halloween activities spread across Sheffield city centre from 10.30am to 5.30pm on Sunday 25 October. Because it uses several outdoor locations, dress for October rather than for the photograph you hope to take.

The Witches and Wizards Halloween Trail runs at the Tropical Butterfly House from 24 October to 1 November. It is outside central Sheffield at North Anston, so treat travel as part of the booking rather than something to solve on the morning. Sheffield Botanical Gardens has a poisonous and magical plants tour at 1pm on 27 October, while All Rise for Halloween brings a family courtroom musical to the city from 29 to 31 October.

For an evening that feels spooky without being a late night, Mystery Ensemble performs music from Tim Burton’s films at Victoria Hall on Friday 30 October. The Sheffield Events listing carries the latest doors, venue and ticket link.

Grown-up nights, drag and live music

Friday has several choices before Halloween itself. The Velvet Burlesque brings its Cabaret Gothique show to Sheffield Library Theatre from 8pm, Halloween Comedy Drag Bingo starts at 7pm, and Life Aquatic Band plays Sidney & Matilda from 7.30pm. Planet Zogg’s Halloween Ball begins at Yellow Arch Studios later that night, so check the stated finish time, admission policy and transport home before buying.

On Saturday, the Living Dead Crawl, the Halloween 80s Party, R&B and bassline nights, bingo and venue parties all compete for the same crowd. Names and themes are not substitutes for practical details: confirm the venue, age restriction, last entry and whether a ticket covers one room or several stops.

A student-friendly Halloween plan

Start with a real budget: ticket, costume, food and the journey home. Sheffield has enough happening that you do not need an expensive multi-venue pass just to feel involved. A free daytime event followed by one properly chosen night can be more fun than chasing every flyer in the group chat.

Agree a meeting point before the busiest part of the night and keep it somewhere specific, not simply “town”. Screenshot the ticket and venue address, charge your phone and check the final tram or bus before you leave. If a listing describes a secret location, make sure the organiser has actually supplied arrival instructions before travel.

Films, pumpkins and quieter choices

Not every Halloween plan needs costumes or a dance floor. Sheffield cinemas, theatres, museums and farms add screenings, trails and pumpkin sessions as October gets closer. These are often timed or capacity-limited, so book from the organiser rather than relying on an old social post. The current Welcome to Sheffield Halloween list is a useful second check alongside our live listings.

Keep the plan flexible

New events will keep appearing. Browse the October guide, search the live Sheffield calendar and use the local map to check where venues sit. Organisers can add missing confirmed dates through the free event form.
