We Are Building A blazing World! Elspeth Ann & Jennifer Reid

Gut Level

A Folk Ritual

Musicians Elspeth Anne and Jennifer Reid have built a ‘blazing world’: a self-contained performance born from their lived experience as femme performers and dreaming a softer alternative into existence, inspired in part by Margaret Cavendish’s famous work.

The work sits with themes of female power, queer justice, persecution, survival and the stubborn preservation of tradition. But actual tradition, as a method, not as a bland revivalist mission.

Join us for a special event, where they will push the limits of a standard gig – creating a held space that’s ritualised, intentional and contained, from the moment people enter through to the end of the night.

You will be invited to turn off your phones, build this world with them and be present – in a way that actually works, speaking to the part of the brain that grew and learned orally instead of words and screens.

Think trad folk, plant based songs, learning from oral sources, stylised visuals to help envelop the audience.
